Overview
Forest Clearance is required under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 (as amended) when a project involves the diversion of forest land for non-forest purposes. The clearance process evaluates the necessity of forest land diversion, environmental impacts, and measures such as compensatory afforestation and wildlife conservation. Approval is granted by the competent authorities of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in accordance with the applicable rules and guidelines.
